Volunteers Needed
Refs — Maybe you like to skate or want to learn how to skate, but don’t particularly want to get clobbered every 5 seconds as a roller girl. Or maybe you’re a dude who wants to be part of the action. Reffing is for you! We’ll even teach you to skate!! Quads or inlines (roller blades) are ok! You must be 18+ and must have a high tolerance for taking rollergirls’ crap.
Medics —We need medics or emergency trained medical professional! Yes, there are a lot of injuries in derby. So we keep you busy. But what would be more fun than splinting some hot sweaty derby girl??? Duh!
Merch Hawkers — Yes, we need you to sell our stuff — T-shirts, buttons, stickers, our first born…
Door Peeps —Selling/taking tickets, managing the guest list, these sorts of things
Security —Keep the drunks in line, usher people to appropriate seating, keep people behind the safety line, and try to look really really mean. Grr.
Performers —Halftime shows. Anyone from bands to belly dancers… we want you!
Artists — We need costume designers, artists, photographers, videographers, tattoo artists… if you can make something, you are needed!
Productioneers — Do you talk a lot? Do people generally think you’re outgoing and funny? Try out to be an MC!! We also need people to help with bout set up, decorations, and stage design!
Basic Volunteer Requirements
- You must be reliable
- Be able to attend an interview and/or training
- Sign a waiver holding BCDG harmless from any and all liability related to injuries and accidents associated with your service
